2015 Annual Creative Challenge

Be sure to see our Moon Lunacy October show! October is an exciting time for Art Presence as we open the gallery to Rogue Valley artists responding to our third Annual Creative Challenge and bring you one of our most popular shows.

This Year’s Creative Challenge:

For 2015, we challenged artists to create artwork that is Halloween or Autumn-inspired with a unique and unconventional twist. The only requirement was that each piece of art MUST incorporate a MOON—a half moon, full moon, red, blue, yellow, orange or whatever moon artists wanted to create. Artists were welcomed to include stars, planetary icons, witches, ravens, owls, or anything else their imaginations inspired to create kitschy, edgy, weirdly creative art. We suggested steampunk elements, fairytales gone wrong, and their own fantasy dreams or nightmares. The artwork could be in the form of paintings, mixed media, collage, papier-mache, assemblage, photography or installations. We encouraged 3D artwork as well. There were no restrictions on the size of the art.

We received over 100 pieces of art in response to this challenge, and the resulting show is, well…haunting! Many thanks to our Moon Lunatic artists! We are delighted with the response and the many wonderful pieces now hanging in the gallery, ready for the Moon Lunacy October Show’s opening tomorrow, Friday, October 2.

Join us to welcome these visiting artists at a festive reception on Saturday, October 3 from noon–4pm, with live music by Martin Ball, Tarot card readings, and face painting.

You’re invited to a special Halloween reception on Saturday, October 31 from noon–4pm. Meet some of the Players from the Friends of Jacksonville’s Historic Cemetery’s 2015 Meet the Pioneers program up close and personal.  Hear about what goes into this production and who the players are, and why they volunteer to be a part of this popular and well attended Jacksonville event. We may even have a few of our Pioneer Spirits come down from the Silent City on the Hill and share their stories with you!

Here are a few of the entries you will see in the show:
