October Imaginarium Call to Artists

Each year Art Presence Art Center hosts the artistic results of a creative challenge in October.  You are invited to participate in our 5th October Creative Challenge, THE OCTOBER IMAGINARIUM: HATS AND MASKS, An Artfully Twisted Halloween Exhibit.
We are very excited about this year’s show and hope you will consider joining us.  Below is the October Imaginarium Call to Artists and Application for the show.  Please read through it carefully, as it includes ALL THE INFO you will need to know about the show including dates, ideas, suggestions, and guidelines for your artwork.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact one of us and we will do our best to answer your questions.  Please print this application so you can fill it out and have the info on the show, where to mail it, etc.  If you do not have a printer, we have applications at the gallery to pick up behind the counter.
There will be a general meeting sometime at the end of August for participating artists, and some reminders that we would love to have you send the applications back to us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we have an idea of how many will be in the show.  Here’s to a great Exhibit!

Gallerie Carnevale, Art Presence Art Center’s Fourth Annual October Creative Challenge, presents artwork in a circus theme with touches of Halloween. We announced our fourth October Creative Challenge earlier this year. As a result, 27 artists from all over the valley contributed amazing works.  Due to their inspiration and creativity, the show includes incredible sculptures as well as 2 dimensional pieces in oil, acrylic, watercolor, fabric and collage. This delightful exhibit opens September 30th and remains on display through the month. So, we thank all the participating artists for their wonderful contributions!

You’re invited to the Gallerie Carnevale artists reception this Saturday, October 1st from 1 to 4 pm at 206 North Fifth Street, next to the Courthouse.  There will be refreshments, a balloon man, and an activity table where you can decorate and make your own pinwheel.  Most of all, you can meet the artists behind the Gallerie Carnevale! The Gallery is open from 11 to 5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  We hope you will join us!

Moon Lunacy October Show

Moon Lunacy art exhibit announcement, October 2015 Art Presence ARt Center, Jacksonville, OregonMoon Lunacy October Show

2015 Annual Creative Challenge

Be sure to see our Moon Lunacy October show! October is an exciting time for Art Presence as we open the gallery to Rogue Valley artists responding to our third Annual Creative Challenge and bring you one of our most popular shows.

This Year’s Creative Challenge:

For 2015, we challenged artists to create artwork that is Halloween or Autumn-inspired with a unique and unconventional twist. The only requirement was that each piece of art MUST incorporate a MOON—a half moon, full moon, red, blue, yellow, orange or whatever moon artists wanted to create. Artists were welcomed to include stars, planetary icons, witches, ravens, owls, or anything else their imaginations inspired to create kitschy, edgy, weirdly creative art. We suggested steampunk elements, fairytales gone wrong, and their own fantasy dreams or nightmares. The artwork could be in the form of paintings, mixed media, collage, papier-mache, assemblage, photography or installations. We encouraged 3D artwork as well. There were no restrictions on the size of the art.

We received over 100 pieces of art in response to this challenge, and the resulting show is, well…haunting! Many thanks to our Moon Lunatic artists! We are delighted with the response and the many wonderful pieces now hanging in the gallery, ready for the Moon Lunacy October Show’s opening tomorrow, Friday, October 2.

Join us to welcome these visiting artists at a festive reception on Saturday, October 3 from noon–4pm, with live music by Martin Ball, Tarot card readings, and face painting.

You’re invited to a special Halloween reception on Saturday, October 31 from noon–4pm. Meet some of the Players from the Friends of Jacksonville’s Historic Cemetery’s 2015 Meet the Pioneers program up close and personal.  Hear about what goes into this production and who the players are, and why they volunteer to be a part of this popular and well attended Jacksonville event. We may even have a few of our Pioneer Spirits come down from the Silent City on the Hill and share their stories with you!

Here are a few of the entries you will see in the show:
