About Brenda Mills Brannan

Brenda paints primarily with water media because she loves its transparent quality, vibrant colors, and unpredictability. Her background taught her detail. But water media and some mixed media allow her to combine her tendency toward detail with a more spontaneous result. Therefore, her spirited interpretations of such things as birds, people, grapevines, etc., are somewhat realistic yet ethereal. She’s grown to believe detail is less important than composition, light, and good design. Her technique is often meticulous, sometimes playful and less controlled, but always a celebration of life.

Celebration, as well as connection with nature, happens for her when she successfully expresses what she is attempting to paint…and to share…a soul connection. Her paintings are passionate interpretations of nature.
