Session 1 – Basic Drawing Class for Youth with Brooke Nuckles @ Art Presence Art Center
Jul 2 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

“There is a notion that artists are born with the ability to draw. No one arrives in this world with that gift! Drawing is a skill that must be learned. It is not hard, but requires mental discipline.

“Drawing will develop a cooperative process between your mind and your eyes. The mind must relinquish the role of know-it-all and allow the eye to be the teacher. The mind makes a lot of assumptions. Most of the time these assumptions are close enough to reality that we can get along in the world. In drawing, however, the less you assume, the more you will SEE. Please join me on a journey to develop this skill.“

-Anne Brooke, Director

Art Presence Basic Drawing for Youth class begins in June 2019! Here, a budding artist learns to draw.

Session 1 – Basic Drawing Class for Youth Ages 6–12

This summer, elementary-aged artists-in-training can learn foundational drawing skills using quality art materials at Art Presence Art Center. Our first basic drawing class for youth begins in June. Drawing with pencil, ink, and charcoal, children will be inspired by the drawings of famous artists and introduced to the basic principles and elements of art and design. Students will be encouraged to express themselves creatively as they develop foundational art skills by drawing still life, self portraits, and landscapes.

This session begins June 11th and continues every Tuesday from 5:30–7:00 pm through July 16th, 2019.

We will meet in the upstairs classroom at Art Presence Art Center, 206 North 5th Street in Jacksonville. Register at the gallery or call 541-941-7057.

Class and materials are provided thanks to the generosity of a Haines Foundation grant. Students must register in advance for either session. Space is very limited, so sign up today!
