Sixteen member artists and photographers participated in this plein air celebration of the aged landmark in our charming little town, creating numerous paintings that were displayed in a preview show at the Art Presence Art Center Gallery on July 14. The next Saturday, July 21, these works were presented for sale at a benefit auction and sale at the Beekman House, with 25% of the proceeds going to the Jacksonville Heritage Society’s Beekman House Restoration project.

Both exhibitions included an ongoing vote for a People’s Choice winner. Over 100 ballots were cast, and the winner was Kim Faucher! Congratulations, Kim! Second and third were paintings by Cammy Davis and Anne Brooke. Valley View Winery had made a commitment to create a “Beekman Blend” wine in commemoration of the event and to use the winning art work for the label. It appears that Cammy lucked out – they will use both Kim and Cammy’s works for the wine label! Nice work, ladies!

These kinds of projects are what satisfy our mission statement and make us a viable member of the Jacksonville community.  We are making an impact and “art” is becoming an important aspect of the culture here.  Thank you for such a beautiful job in your incredible creations. ~ Anne Brooke Hawkins, Art Presence Founder
