“BayScape” Painting on architectural substrate by Jerry Simon.

Of his painting, Jerry says:

This painting is a “landscape” of San Francisco Bay. It looks at the area from multiple points of view with varying perspectives. The free-shaped edges of the painting attempt to depict protruding land masses and water inlets. The part of the bay showing the Golden Gate Bridge and the exit to the ocean are imaginary and were out of view but seemed important to complete the image.

There is some collage inserted, including the original engineer’s blueprint of the bridge and a night scene of downtown San Rafael. The colors of the bay are more brilliant than usual, suggesting a Mediterranean climate and there are also areas of patchy fog.

We are planning to visit San Francisco this summer.
