June Guest Artists: Artists’ Workshop

Our June Guest Artists are the Artists’ Workshop of Southern Oregon (AWSO). The Artists’ Workshop of Southern Oregon Annual Show and Sale takes place at Art Presence Art Center from June 3–26. Here’s a sneak peek of a few of the works you can expect to see in their exhibition.

Founded in 1979 by Elaine Witteveen, the Artists’ Workshop of Southern Oregon (AWSO) is a group of dedicated and passionate artists who use all of the traditional art tools to visually capture the beauty of local landscapes and historical buildings, along with floral and other still lifes.

In keeping with her vision, AWSO artists are committed to “Paintouts.” Paintouts utilize the process of Plein Air painting. In essence, the Plein Air technique challenges the artist to paint spontaneously at a specific outdoor location, within a small window of time.

Paintouts take place on Mondays during Spring and Summer, in various Southern Oregon locations: the orchards, vineyards, and towns of the Rogue Valley and Applegate. During these paintouts, artists take approximately 2 hours to complete their work.

The Artists’ Workshop of Southern Oregon invites all artists who would like to become a member and join us on a Paint Out art experience/adventure.

Many of our artists are award winners and many offer instructional classes. Our door is open to all experienced and aspiring artists who want to experience the Plein Air challenge.
